We all know that 2023 has been predicted to be a Barbie girl summer with the launch of the campy, pink-filled, and cute Barbie movie coming out later this month. However, what if I told you that it might be a “Sanrio summer” instead?

That’s right! I seriously think that the Sanrio stans are out to play, and it’s all because of the newest launch from K-beauty brand Rom&nd (pronounced as “rom and you,” but I also like to call them “rom and” for the logo’s sake). They recently released the cutest collection by far on July 1, 2023, and features their popular characters, My Melody and Kuromi.

My Melody and Kuromi: Why Are They The Focus?

Both My Melody and Kuromi are both iconic bunny characters that have been heavily integrated in Sanrio’s branding. My Melody has been a long-time favorite for young girls since its creation in 1975, a year after the creation of Hello Kitty. It’s crazy to think that this character has existed for so long. I even found out that my mom loved this character so much when she was a teenager around that time, so the love for Sanrio definitely runs in the family, so to say.

On the other hand, Kuromi is somewhat of a newer addition to the Sanrio character lineup. Kuromi was created in 2005, which is 30 years after the creation of My Melody. The reason for her creation was to act as a rival in the anime series Onegai My Melody. I always thought that Kuromi and My Melody were twins or best friends with opposing aesthetics/personalities since they were both cute white bunnies. Did you know about this?

Don’t be fooled by the fact that My Melody and Kuromi are not the founding characters of the Sanrio brand. Turns out they are more popular than you’d think! According to a 2022 annual popularity ranking by Sanrio, both of the bunnies were more popular than Hello Kitty. Almost 26,500,000 people (that’s more than the Australian population, by the way) took part in this poll where it was shown that My Melody was in 5th place and Kuromi was in 3rd place, just behind of Pom Pom Purin and Cinnamoroll. I guess people love using Kuromi as a way to show their edgy side since she makes it look so kawaii.

With the popularity of the rival bunnies in a single collab by a top Korean beauty brand, it’s clear to see that this cute collab makes lots of sense to add to your makeup collection or your Sanrio obsession. If this collection is tugging at your heartstrings and your wallet, I seriously don’t blame you because I’m with you, too.

The Product Lineup

Upon first glance at this collab, you would be impressed to see that there is something for everyone. The product range is surprisingly great since they have not just everyday makeup, but also lip products and nail polishes.

You can tell that Rom&nd knew that we couldn’t get enough of Sanrio because they provided two versions of their products: one for the My Melody fans, and one for the Kuromi fans. Well, you don’t have to choose sides because both characters are so cute.

Both sets include:

• a liquid foundation cushion with a color-coordinated applicator
• an eyeshadow palette
• two Juicy Lasting Tints (aka lip glosses that leave a slight stain) that have been described to be an affordable dupe to Rare Beauty’s plumping lip gloss stains
• a water gloss tint (aka transparent glosses)
• two nail polish shades
• a cap decor for the Juicy Lasting Tints

I think what makes this collab stand out is that there are two different color palettes: a bright, neutral pastel pink palette for My Melody and a mauve-y, dark-hued palette for Kuromi. There’s two different ranges of colors that you can choose from if you’re thinking of dabbling in a palette outside of your comfort zone. I personally love this since I’ve been wanting to experiment more with mauves and berry hues in my makeup collection.

Even the nail polish releases are so tempting to try out. There are two shimmers that are either a clear base with pink glitter or a black base with purple glitter. The plain shades are pastel and seem to have a light consistency that reminds me of Korean GelX polishes. You can call them GelX finishes or the glazed donut finish.

The only slight similarity between the two designs would have to be the foundation cushions and maybe the darker shades for the eyeshadow palettes. However, this collection from the packaging to the colors has a lot of thought into it.

It also appears that this collab will come with its own gift set. From one of Rom&nd’s Instagram posts, you can see that you can purchase a cushion along with a set of transparent glosses. The best part? It all comes together in a box that looks like a gameboy! The collab is Y2k themed, so it’s supposed to give the same vibe as the cute little stationaries you would use when you were younger.

Besties, I think I’m in loveeee with this one. I haven’t felt this way about makeup before because it merges skincare and makeup into one product. Yes, this might be the makeup product for the skincare-obsessed.

Urban Decay launched their newest baby, the Hydromaniac Dewy Liquid Blush, TODAY and I was fortunate enough to test out this product for the past few weeks from @influenster and @urbandecaycosmetics in exchange for my honest review. I am writing this blog post to document my experiences with various products so that others who are curious about these products feel confident in purchasing them for themselves. I am receiving no monetary compensation for writing this review.

A Juicy Blush Has Arrived

Urban Decay surprised me with the Hydromaniac Dewy Liquid Blush in the shade Unhinged (Berry Mauve). This liquid blush costs $22 USD at Sephora’s US website. The makeup brand describes this product as a liquid blush that is suitable for all skin tones and is buildable for a juicy, radiant glow. It is also formulated to be vegan and cruelty-free.

The blush is easy to blend, build, and apply with a small amount of product and any makeup tool of your choice. It is a small size to make it travel-friendly (specifically TSA-compliant), but mighty enough to provide a long-lasting flush to complete your makeup look.

This cheek tint gives you the glow and keeps your skin glowy thanks to its key ingredients:

• Kombucha Filtrate: Detoxifies and nourishes your skin. It contains vitamin C, which lightly exfoliates your skin and boosts collagen production to eliminate signs of aging.
• Marula Oil: Hydrates your skin and seals in moisture to protect it from environmental stressors and free radicals.

The packaging is so cute, sturdy, and hygienic. The packaging is made from plastic and is more compact so the blush is compliant with TSA guidelines. If you’ve ever been stopped by TSA to throw away any of your beloved cosmetics or skincare, you know how terrible it is to let go of something so precious. The fact that Urban Decay noted this TSA detail in their product description shows that the team is very considerate of their users’ needs and makeup habits. It really is meant to be your go-to blush.

Another cool detail about the packaging is the pointed plastic nozzle for squeezing out the blush. It reminds me of squeezing out paint for arts and crafts, but I think it is a smart touch for pinpointing application to smaller areas of your face or applying small dots of pigmented product. I have used this blush frequently and can still proudly say that my blush doesn’t look messy. The pointed nozzle keeps the watery blush from leaking out of the twist lid and making a mess.

Watery Texture

As the name says, this is a liquid blush. The blush has a thin, lightweight consistency that is kind of watery. It reminds me of really watery acrylic paint that is super pigmented.

For those wondering about the scent of this blush, there is no noticeable scent. There is no smell that I noticed from using the blush multiple times, but maybe it could change as I have this product around for longer in my makeup collection.

Flawless Makeup Now Feels Easier to Do

I was worried about this because I never used liquid blush or a mauve blush before, but I think Urban Decay converted me!

These babies are pigmented. Urban Decay was not joking when they said the liquid blushes were pigmented. One small dot of this blush on my hand created such a nice, natural, and rosy glow. Immediately, I saw myself using this for work because of how it looked so natural and berry pink on my medium skin tone.

I also tested how well this product is for building up the pigment, and this liquid blush also passed the test. In an instant, my natural flush swatch turned into a bold pop of mauve that worked so well with my olive undertones. You can see this for yourself in the video I made down below.

Enhances My Skin

Urban Decay and I never talked before about my makeup needs, but they seemed to know that I needed this product for my dry skin. This product works so, so well with my dry skin because I transform into a glowy goddess with plumpy pink cheeks. I love how it compliments my medium tan skin and enhances my skin.

Reading through this formulation also makes me think that this liquid blush can also work for mature skin since it can seep well into my skin and hide the appearance of fine lines due to the shine. Maybe this can also work for oily skin types, too! There’s plenty of skincare ingredients in here to make anyone’s skin look pretty, plump, and perfectly pink.

Longlasting Glow

I put this blush to the test by using it during my workout and during some pretty hot days. This liquid blush lasted me through the day and didn’t wear off on my sweatiest of days under the sun. By the end of the day, I could still see my natural flush of pigment and the glowiness of my skin. It was still noticeable after looking past the sweat I probably had by the end of the night.

Multifunctional Makeup

On Sephora, I noticed that some testers also put the liquid blush on their eyes and lips. I tried this for myself on my lips and eyes, and it looked very nice! The slight tackiness of the liquid blush can make it a possible eye primer for some shimmer shades. If you put this on your lips, you can seal it in by topping it off with some clear lip gloss for a MLBB (my lips but better) look.

If you feel that you overdid the blush, no worries. You can always dial the color down with foundation or concealer and it won’t feel cakey.

My Only Caveat

I would say there might be a minor area of concern when using the product.  Depending on your skincare prep or your makeup primer, you may notice a little bit of patchiness while applying this liquid primer. I tested this with my dry skin favorite primer, the Milk Makeup Hydro Primer, and my slightly tacky moisturizer and noticed some patchiness when applying this blush to my skin. The patchiness might be because of the primer or from applying it with a beauty sponge. I would recommend gently applying this liquid blush if using it after products that tend to pill on your skin or are too slippery.

Would I repurchase?

I was scared to try this, but omg I absolutely love it. I’m a straightforward makeup/ glowy or dewy skin person, and this worked so well for me. If you love no-effort makeup tools, dewy makeup, or are a lazy girl like myself, I think you’ll love it!

Urban Decay definitely convinced me to try incorporating more mauve into my beauty routine with this PR, so thank you again for giving me the blush shade I didn’t know I needed. It’s perfect!

What is a “Koshort?”

If you’re unfamiliar with the term “Koshort,” it’s a cute abbreviation to the Korean shorthair breed. This cute little cat is known for its long fur, adorable big eyes, and its curious personality. These traits are what make the breed so popular among Koreans. Although their origin is not clear-cut, Korean shorthair cats have been around since the 8th century.

The Korean shorthair cats come in multiple colors, usually gray or orange, and are known for their distinct stripes. If you are allergic to these beautiful babies, then maybe you can settle with this cute makeup collection instead.

Koshort in Seoul Eyeshadows

What stopped me in my tracks to talk about this collection was their eyeshadow palettes. Sure, the shades are so nice and perfect for warm-toned, everyday looks. The main focal point that set them apart from other makeup palettes had to be the oh-so-adorable stickers.

Clio Cosmetics is marketing this as a unique customization experience for buyers since you can decorate your palette however you’d like! They did such an amazing job with the small details. For example, some of the eyeshadow shades have little paw print embossings on them. So it can look like you’re touching a cute cat paw if you apply the eyeshadow with your fingers.

The first palette that Clio Cosmetics released for this collection is called “Napping Cheese.” The inspiration for this palette comes from the fact that Koshorts can have a cheese scent. So, they’re basically like having a napping cheese buddy as a pet. Would you like to have a pet like that?

The stickers are probably what seal the deal because it has a cute kitty napping with cheese (because the palette is called “Napping Cheese”). I’m such a sucker for cute packaging and punny names, so take a look at the palette for yourself down below.

Koshort Will Save My Skin, Too

The last part of the collection might be my favorite because it’s a customizable foundation cushion. The Koshort Kill Cover Founwear Cushion is SPF 50 and PA++++ so it can provide protection from UVA and UVB rays for longer periods of time compared to the usual sunscreens. As someone who doesn’t wear foundation much because of the lack of SPF, my eyes are set on purchasing this cushion to try out.

Have you ever heard of a vegan meta brand? What about “fairy core?”Both of these terms were completely new to me and I didn’t know what to expect. Both of these terms have to do with kbeauty, specifically a rising Korean makeup brand called Naetis.

Recently @naetis.official reached out to me to try out their new blur lip tints. I used these lip tints over the course of two to three weeks before coming up with my opinions. This was my first makeup collab, so obviously I was super excited to give them an honest review.

This also was a collaboration I couldn’t pass up since I always love supporting small businesses. Therefore, I am writing this blog post to provide feedback for the brand and for other people who want to check customer reviews before trying new brands. So, enjoy!

So, what is “vegan meta?”

What is a vegan meta brand? According to my research, these are brands that are focused on making vegan-formulated products and pay close attention to their ingredient sources to stay true to that mission.

Living in a Fairy Blur Makeup Dreams

These lip tints are advertised to be MLBB (otherwise known as “my lips but better”). They enhance your natural beauty by creating makeup that can be used anytime, anywhere because these lip tints are supposed to stain your lips for an all-day tint. You wouldn’t have to worry about reapplying your lipstick because Naetis wants to help you keep your peak makeup game and always feel like you’re living in a fantasy.

On top of that, these lip tints have an airy texture that leaves a buttery velvet finish and keeps your lips soft and moisturized. Oh yeah, and these lippie formulas are vegan, of course!

• Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract: This species of apple extract contains antioxidants that keep your skin elastic and firm while protecting it from free radicals, which can cause signs of aging and hyperpigmentation.
• Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract: Watermelon extract is also rich in antioxidants, so it can defend your skin against UV ray damage and signs of aging.
• Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Extract: Pomegranates are known to be rich in antioxidants, anti-bacterial, and healing. This extract helps prevent breakouts and protects your skin cells.

Literally My Lips But Better

Naetis allowed me to pick two of the blur lip tints to test out. I decided to choose shades 301 #PeachOrdinary and 501 #SeoulElf. Peach Ordinary looked like a perfect everyday lip shade for me since I don’t wear dark shades regularly. I wanted to try Seoul Elf because Naetis told me that it was their most popular shade. If you want me to make another video with swatches on my lips, I’ll be more than happy to do it!

Whipped Texture

The tints are a beautiful whipped texture. I noticed that these lip tints were airy when I first swatched them on my hand because they didn’t feel sticky or heavy.

Applying this to my lips was very nice. The formula feels buttery once spread onto my lips and glided very well. In terms of the finish of these lip tints, I would say that my lips felt velvety but not chapped. When using matte lip sticks in the past, I would get the matte appearance but my lips would feel and look so dry like the Sahara dessert. These blur tints do not provide that unpleasant feeling. The ingredient list also shows that this would be a good tinted lip balm if your lips feel dry.

Lovely Fruity Scent

There is a pleasant, light fruity scent that is in the formulation. I would not have pinpointed any of the fruit extracts as the scent in this formula. The scent of both of these lip tints reminds me more of cherry with a subtle note of coconut. The cherry scent smells more like the artificial kind that you would find for candy and drinks, which I had no issue with.

An All-Day Type of Lip Product

These remind me of my favorite discontinued blur tints from Colourpop (iykyk 😩). With the added lip stain and buildable coverage, these are definitely a must-have for any occasion (especially if you are eating and drinking because the color will stay on). If you do not drink or eat as frequently, I’m sure these lip tints will maintain their pigment by the end of the day.

If you blot the lip tints on tissue, there will be some residue that goes on the tissue, but the bright pigment will still be on your lips. Naetis’s lip tints are blot proof and keep your lips feeling velvety.

Buildable and Multi-Purpose

These lip tints are buildable so you can use one layer for a natural, no-makeup look or add another layer for a vivid statement lippie. As someone who doesn’t identify herself as a makeup expert, these lip tints were easy to use and build upon. I found it easy to do the gradient lips where the center of my lips were pigmented. That lip look is a challenge sometimes and I find it doesn’t always look good on me. However, these lip tints made me realize I was just doing them wrong.

The airy texture and pigmentation power of these made me want to try the lip tints out as a blush. I would say they were also as easy to spread out and build up pigment. I didn’t notice any breakouts on my skin, but maybe a slight pink pigment since pink can color your skin. Again, these lip tints are easy to remove with makeup remover so you can do some double cleansing when using these on your skin.

Would I repurchase?

Yes! I always love supporting small businesses with high-quality products, so definitely is worth a purchase. It combines the buttery velvet formula of a liquid lipstick with the power of a lip stain, so if you want an alternative to the trending lip oils and lip stains, I highly consider trying Naetis!

Tested for Everything

Lovely Packaging

The packaging is so nice and great for travel! I love the pump nozzle for a hygienic user experience.

Considering the price for this product, you might think that this BB cream is fairly small. However, a little product can go a long way for providing a natural finish that protects your skin. Going on with too much of the BB cream can make your face look like a sweaty girl really quick, so use this on top of your usual SPF if you have other SPF products with you.

Great Shade Range for Kbeauty

There are shades for both warm and cool tones, so there’s something for everyone. In this line, there are 2 shades meant for lighter skin tones with cool undertones. The remaining four shades are neutral undertones and for warm undertones, but they are the darker pigments.

Some people might be iffy about this product for the shade range, but I think it is impressive. I personally don’t think it’s a huge critique considering that Heimish’s customer base is primarily in South Korea, which is where they are founded. They are trying to expand their reach right now (with some of their skincare being readily available now at Walmart stores in the United States). I think eventually they will expand their shade range to cater to their international audience.

Perfect for Hiding Redness and for Natural Looks

I didn’t notice any particular scent when using the BB cream. It comes out as a richly pigmented, lightweight cream that easily covered my redness. A little went a long way for me because 1 pump of the BB cream did just the job of providing coverage without feeling cakey. If you are hoping for a high coverage makeup product that can hide all the pigmentation of pimples and blemishes, this one only slightly lightens them. This formula can also enhance pimple bumps since it is a glowy finish.

The cream is easy to blend into my skin and contour. I actually used the Medium shade for my face and the Deep shade for contouring to test it out, and it made me look like I had a nice, sunkissed tan. The product is very beginner friendly because it doesn’t dry out quickly and is easy to blend the shades out for contouring or bronzing. I’m so excited to use this in the summer.

Sweatproof for Sure

When I tell you I put this BB cream to the test, I meant it! I wore this cream to work out and even tested it underwater, and they definitely stayed in place. The coverage stayed there despite the warm temperatures. The only time the BB cream would go off is when I washed it off with my makeup remover.

Wearing this BB cream was a pleasant surprise during my workouts because it did not turn splotchy from sweating. I usually go hard during my workouts with cardio and weights, and there were no issues. On top of that, my skin did not break out at all! I got compliments on my skin both in and outside of the gym. To know that I can work out with some makeup without it clogging my pores is when you know you have a solid product in your hands.

Would I repurchase?

Hands down yes because I think I have a new makeup essential for my collection. For my first impression of Heimish, I was amazed with their BB cream line. This seems like a great product for the summertime and works for all skin types since it is sensitive skin-friendly and supports a healthy skin barrier for oily and dry skin. A little bit of product gives a decent amount of coverage for pimples, but I would layer more on for blemishes.

These dry winters really are no joke! 🥶It may not seem like much to have dry skin in the winter, but think again. Since the air is drier, dry skin can be more prone to wrinkles and also breakouts since retaining moisture can be difficult.

Small and Sturdy Packaging

The packaging is super sleek and minimal. There’s a nice sheen to the exterior of the container and looks like it gives the glow from within look like the product is supposed to do. I had this in my bag for touch-ups and the product didn’t open while it was in my bag. It stayed nice and secure, ready for whenever my dry skin needed some hydration.

Easy to Open and Use

The product is easy to apply since it has a twist mechanism to estimate how much of the balm you would need. The product can go in and out without getting stuck in the tube.

In terms of the balm consistency, it is a velvety balm that is better to apply directly to the skin to melt it. I tried using my fingers to apply the balm, but it doesn’t smooth the product out as well. The balm appears white but goes on clear to the skin. If I had to describe the feeling of the balm on my skin, I would say that it leaves my skin looking normal and feeling a little buttery than before.

Sensitive Skin and Nose Approved

The formula itself has no scent to it. My skin did not break out while using this product. The balm felt like a lightweight lotion that didn’t make my skin feel slippery. My skin felt like it had a very thin layer of tackiness for the balm to stick, but it wasn’t bothersome.

No White Cast

The Rice Pure Aqua Multi Balm did not leave a white cast. It goes on smoothly for a thin layer that leaves your skin feeling balmy and a subtle, dewy sheen. The formula feels like what a pore-filling makeup primer would be and kind of blurs your pores from afar. I think because of the rice in the formula and other blemish-fighting ingredients, my blemishes looked less apparent after using the balm for a few weeks. It was my skin but better.

Cooling Sensation

I love how immediately upon application you get a slight cooling effect! The cooling sensation is probably due to the use of Centella Asiatica in the formulation. For this reason, I personally think that it can make a good eye-depuffing product.

Was Expecting More

Even though the plastic container was big for an on-the-go product, I was thinking that there should be more of the hydrating balm. The container seemed to be 50% multi balm and 50% twisting mechanism to life the balm. With this product intended for frequent, daily touch-ups, I think this product can be used up within 1-2 months because of how little there is. If you have rosacea, psoriasis, or really flakey skin and are expecting this to be a solution for that, just be aware you might end up finishing the product quickly. There are no issues with the formula itself.

Would I repurchase?

I would say maybe not because I think there should be more of the balm considering the size of the packaging. It’s difficult trying to justify the $32 price tag for me since I am 1) a young adult trying to save money and 2) someone who has tried out other amazing products for cheaper and with great ingredient lists. Maybe if I wasn’t thinking too much about money, then maybe my opinion would change. Right now I don’t think it’s a skincare item that I have to go out of my way to purchase.

Do I think that this product is worth a shot? Ya. Formula-wise, the product was great and not too thick! I enjoyed the fact that my skin looked moisturized and slightly matted with just a light use of the balm. There are so many ingredients in here that are perfect for people with different skin types and makeup preferences. Even people who do no-makeup makeup might get a kick out of it because of the blurring finish.

Most of all, I loved the cooling sensation that comes with the balm formulation. It is a great pick-me-up for when you’re tired or in need of moisture either due to dry heat or from the dry cold air. This was a great first experience with the brand, but I do see myself trying out a different product just because of the size to the price point. I’m probably just not within the target demographic for this product, but things can change.

Christmas came a little early for me! 🎄Before the year ended, one of my goals was to get one brand collab. I was in disbelief when TIRTIR’s America marketing team reached out to me to try one of their products for their December campaign! I let them surprise me with any product, so thank you TIRTIR for giving me one of their more expensive items to try out in exchange for a review.

Although I love the cold winter weather, my dry skin could probably say otherwise. The air gets drier and the cold can irritate your skin, so my dry skin can look inflamed and cracked if not treated properly. This is where TIRTIR’s Glossy Coating Mist comes in for the rescue!

What is the TIRTIR Glossy Coating Mist?

According to the TIRTIR website, their Glossy Coating Mist (70 mL) is a fine mist moisturizer that is meant to instantly hydrate and brighten your skin. It is supposed to help you if you want dewy skin that can not only look moisturized but stay moisturized throughout the day. If you want to purchase this mist to try it out for yourself, you can purchase it for $39.00 on their website.

With every great skincare product comes an even more amazing formulation. TIRTIR designed this product for it to be hypoallergenic, silicone-free, sulfate-free, and alcohol-free so that your skin won’t have clogged pores or dry out as a result of the application. What is There to Like About This Mist?

Very Simple and Durable Packaging

The packaging is classic and sturdy aluminum steel. The cap fits perfectly onto the bottle to prevent any product leaking or spray mishaps.

I love the subtle details since the exterior white coating has sparkles on it! It took me a while to notice this small detail because I was too busy admiring the product. The sparkles are a nice touch because it carries out the product’s purpose to give your skin some TLC to shine bright.

Amazing Spray Nozzle Design

I thought this would be a very light mister, but the spray nozzle is strong. I was surprised how one little pump could powerfully release a ton of product and cover my face instantly. It takes about 3-5 seconds to be able to cover my face with the mist. So, if you are in a rush with your morning routine or in need of a quick touch-up, this Glossy Coating Mist will be a trusty essential in your bag to the very last drop.

The mist consistency is water-like and clear. It comes out very, very fine and leaves your face looking like a dew drop immediately. After drying, my face has some tackiness to it due to the hydrating formula (glycerin, panthenol, polyglutamic acid).

Immediate Soothing Sensation and Results

The formula does an amazing job of hydrating and calming down my skin barrier. It reduces redness and makes me look more awake since it contains witch hazel, centella asiatica, ginseng, and chamomile. Upon application, my face immediately has a cooling sensation that makes my skin retain its healthy glow. The mist dries off but my face remains looking super plump and youthful. I can’t tell you how many times I used this in the morning as a face wash alternative and admired my skin. The glow-heavy formula made me look awake and ready for the day, so it is perfect for dry skin.

Sensitive Skin-Friendly

There is no strong scent to this product. It did not break me out and is great for sensitive skin. I would say that my skin actually was pretty clear while using the formula because it had a mix of moisturizing, whitening, and exfoliating ingredients.

If I had to redo my skincare journey with a heavily blemished and damaged skin barrier, this product would have been a good addition to my starting routine. Hydration is very important if dealing with a flaky, acne-prone surface. The calming ingredients in this spray would have helped speed up my healing process by so much.

Great for Mature Skin, Too!

My mom also tried the mist and she loved it, too! It made her skin hydrated and glowy, making her wrinkles less apparent. This mist does a great job of leaving a sheen that can accentuate your skin and lessen the appearance of discoloration and wrinkles.

She was also loving it more once I told her fave kdrama actor Hyun Bin was a spokesperson, so maybe she’s a little biased.

Perfect On Top of Makeup

TIRTIR also advertised that this product could be used as a setting spray for makeup. This aspect of the product was my main reason for wanting to try it since I am a huge fan of glowy makeup. Glowy or dewy makeup is a dry skin girly’s best friend because it can help hide skin flakiness or texture if done well.

After doing my usual makeup routine (primer, eyeshadow, foundation, you name it), I was initially skeptical to try this product. I was worried that all my hard work would be down the drain with the spray leaving splotchy marks on my face. I was so wrong! Since TIRTIR made sure that the nozzle produced a super fine mist, my makeup was saved and my skin looked even glowier than before on top of my makeup.

Call it Barbie skin maybe, but my skin looked as if it was plastic. It literally looked so shiny, and yes an influencer type of gasp was warranted.

Are There Any Cons to Using This?

There were no cons at all when I was using this product. It’s perfect and does its job very well.

Would I repurchase?

Yes!!! I was super impressed with the quality of the nozzle since it dispersed the product evenly and quickly. Whether you use it as a first skincare product, a pick-me-up mist, or a setting spray, it will give you an undeniable glow from within. I would love to try more in the future (especially the milk essence and bubble toners haha).

The price point of this product is a little steep, so I do recommend using this when you feel that your skin is dull and needs some extra support. I think you may also enjoy the Glossy Coating Mist if you are a fan of glowy makeup or natural makeup. The mist is such a simple but effective step in your skincare routine if you want a serious glow. It minimizes the appearance of pores and wrinkles because it results in an eye-catching shine.

My Dry, Acne-Prone Skin Story

It wasn’t until last year where my skin suffered big-time with acne. With major life and diet changes, your body will get the best of you and change up your skin for the worst. College isn’t only the culprit of the dreaded Freshman 15, it’s also the culprit of no-good acne for some.

I would most commonly get cystic acne popping up around my jawline and my cheekbones.

College was when my skin went from clear and smooth to dry, flaky, and severely acne-prone. I would most commonly get cystic acne popping up around my jawline and my cheekbones. Going from clear skin to insanely flaky and pimply skin was a huge shocker (to say the least).

My skin became so bad that I would get asked by relatives “What happened to your face?” I would even get a couple awkward glances from strangers while working out at the gym. Having a severe acne outbreak really made me insecure and stressed!

Since there are not many videos or articles you can find on the Internet that tackle dry, acne-prone skin, I am here to help! My skincare journey towards returning to clear skin took probably 10-12 months. No one else should suffer that long.

After lots of experimenting and research, here are just some staple skincare products that did WONDERS for my skin within 4 months.

10. A moisturizing Micellar Water Makeup Remover for the cleanest face of your life!

Whether you’re caked in makeup or going au naturelle, a powerful skin care routine always starts with how you are removing all that buildup and pollutants. If your makeup remover doesn’t do its job well, then how the heck will your other skin care products work?

What’s so great about micellar water? Can’t any makeup remover work just fine?

Everyone’s skin is different and not all products are suitable for all types of skin. It usually takes me 1-2 makeup wipes to get rid of dirt and makeup on my face. By the end of it, my face is stinging and looks cherry tomato red. That is never a good sign for sensitive skin!

24 Hour Hydration

I have dry and dehydrated skin but get clogged pores easily. Have you considered swapping out your makeup wipes? Sometimes, a cleanser and some makeup wipes just aren’t enough to make sure you get rid of makeup, dirt, and dust. Makeup wipes are great to carry every once in a while, but they can be so abrasive on your skin … especially if you have sensitive skin or a damaged skin barrier.

I didn’t know the hard truth about cleansing my face until when I started college. Makeup wipes were my religion, and I could not go a day without using it at night. The problem? Well, it was so annoying to tug and tug at my skin to remove my cakey layers of makeup and end up with a face that was red like a tomato and stung like as if I rubbed it on sandpaper. The stinging sensation was so annoying and made me not look forward to skincare.

Add that cringeworthy routine on top of poor physical and mental health, and BOOM! You got yourself a damaged skin barrier with the most stubborn cystic acne ever.

How can you get yourself out of this skincare scenario? It took me months to figure out a solution to healing my acne problems and I think I have a perfect suggestion for you.

Starting from Zero

When I started my skincare journey back in 2019 with the aforementioned skincare situation, I was fortunate to already have some skincare to start with. I already had somewhat of an idea about this balm since I would casually browse through Korean skincare and Korean makeup. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon it in the duty-free shopping area of the Incheon airport during a layover did I finally give in. 2019 was also the time when the concept of double cleansing and the infamous 10-step Korean skincare routine were trending on social media. Buying this balm was a no-brainer since other people were raving about it. There had to be a slight possibility that I would love it, too.

Why Would You Like the Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm?

It has the simple purpose of removing makeup, buildup, and dirt without stripping your skin of its much-needed moisture. Easy to Use

The oil made even the hardest makeup a breeze to remove. In fact, rubbing the product in kind of felt like I was giving myself a facial massage since my hands became so slippery. The sherbet would go from an opaque white to a clear oil on my skin. Once it comes into contact with water, the product turns into a milky liquid that takes away all the gunk from your face.

Non-Irritating Formula

The product is great for all skin types. When my skin was suffering from dryness and frequent breakouts, the cleansing balm was a great, soothing product for my routine. Unlike makeup wipes or cotton pads, my skin felt baby skin soft after washing. There was no stinging sensation either. In fact, my skin looked and felt healthier because it would take out my flaky skin and reveal a smoother surface. At a time when I was struggling with my damaged skin barrier, this product was a huge relief and made me feel like myself again.

The Bad Parts

Did I scare you with the subheader? There’s no cons for me.

Honestly, in terms of the formulation, there was no bad part. My skin did not break out from using this product. It made it easier to double cleanse and ensure that my other skincare products were being absorbed into my skin.

In terms of the process of washing my face, it’s normal for it to be a little messy. If you hate having to wash your face so often, maybe you wouldn’t like this product since water can go everywhere. Some people also don’t want to scoop their makeup remover all the time, so that is a valid complaint if you’re not interested in this item.

Is This Worth the Hype?

Yes, for sure! I completely understand why this product has been well-loved. Even though I first tried this product in 2019, I still keep repurchasing it because it works!

To this day, this balm is the first product I use in my nighttime routine whenever I wear makeup. I recommend using this before using a micellar water makeup remover for dry skin people to prevent harsh tugging, especially around the eyes.

The formula has been so friendly to my dry skin that I even purchased the travel size versions of the cleansing balm to bring with me for trips. If there’s an obvious change to notice in the beauty industry in the last few years, it has to be the popularity of “no-makeup makeup” or “natural makeup.” Some people also call it “lazy girl makeup” because of how low effort is appears. Our years cooped up inside due to the Covid-19 pandemic made us realize that less makeup is not just practical, but also way more of an impact to accentuate our natural features.

With this shift in makeup, this also meant that sheer and glossy products started become must-have’s for the everyday girl’s makeup bag. I also went through this transition into natural makeup during this time period. Let me tell you, my makeup four years ago is definitely different from what I currently use today! What started this whole change was a dabble into tinted lip balms. So, I wandered into Sephora and bought myself a balm from Jouer Cosmetics to see what the fuss was about.

Why Might a Tinted Lip Balm Be For You?

Like I mentioned earlier, natural makeup has been on the rise in recent years … and for good reason.

Remember when we were so big on matte lipsticks and liquid lipsticks? We were so fixated on those because they were full coverage and no-budge formulas. However, these formulations would usually dry our lips to the bone (yes, I still cringe at our butthole lips). Don’t forget that reapplying those lipsticks could also result in unevenness since you’re layering on top of your previous application. These lippies were good in theory, but if you’re someone like me who is just tired of putting on too much makeup, then you may be looking for an easier, low-maintenance solution.

Lip balm tints just minimize all those issues. Sure, you may have to reapply, but at least your lips will feel soft and luscious due to moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and cocoa butter. I personally love that the tints have a sheer application in a single swipe so that you can keep it natural during the day, and popping for the night. We love a little duality, right?

Jouer Cosmetics Lip Enhancer Shine Balm

I purchased the Jouer Cosmetics’s lip balm not necessarily because of the formulation, but because of their “Dahlia” shade. It is described to be a “tinted deep berry.” Actually, I found this product right next to the cult-classic tinted lip balm, “Black Honey” by Clinique. The two balms looked pretty much the same, but I ultimately chose Jouer because it was slightly cheaper ($22 USD compared to Clinque’s $24 product) and because I love dahlia flowers.

In terms of formulation, Jouer’s formula ticks all the boxes if you’re looking for clean makeup formulas. Not only is the formulation vegan-friendly, but it is also cruelty-free, gluten-free, and paraben-free.

Now let’s go a little deeper into what to expect with this formula. Jouer emphasized that the star ingredients in their balms are jojoba seed oil and shea butter. Jojoba seed oil (otherwise known as Simmondsia Chinensis seed oil) is commonly used in products to easily moisturize and soften your skin. Shea butter (written in the ingredient list as Butyrospermum Parkii Butter) is a thicker consistency ingredient that acts as a moisture barrier so that your skin stays softer for longer.

Other ingredients to take note of that are in this product include:

• Candelilla Wax: A plant-based wax that is known to be hypoallergenic and also soothe and provide moisture to the skin. This type of wax also can melt faster in high temperatures.
• Carnauba Wax: This hypoallergenic wax is used as a hardener to raise the melting points of wax mixtures. It is a vegetable wax that can provide great shine.
• Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1: Another moisturizing ingredient that helps repair skin damage and aging by reducing the appearance of wrinkles. In the case of lip balm, this ingredient helps your lips look moisturized and plump.
• Titanium Dioxide: This ingredient is used in beauty products as a thickener and also to provide protection from UV rays. This ingredient is commonly used in lip balms and doesn’t provide any issues to your body if ingested orally and in small doses. Titanium dioxide is a possible ingredient in this product and is listed as a smaller dose, so thought I should mention it here.

The Good

Solid Packaging

First things first: I love the packaging of this product! When you open the box, the lip balm is inside a stainless steel container that is coated in baby pink and gold flowers on the cap. The design is a mix of classy and cute; it looked like a work of art.

Rosy First Impression Scent

The lip balm itself is a berry hue that has a light floral scent. It smells like roses and fades out after application. If you’re not a fan of heavy scents, I don’t think you have to worry about this product.

Melts into the Skin

In terms of first impressions, the lip balm provided immediate moisture to my lips. The lip balm would melt instantly once in contact with my lips to provide a sheer layer of moisture and pigment. The first swipe of product was perfect since it provided a flush of color that was reminiscent of the Benefit Original Lip Tint which also gives that same berry-esque hue.

Buildability

My lips turned more into a deep berry mauve upon the second coat of lip balm, so I agree that the product is very buildable. The texture of the product on my lips felt more like a lip oil since it felt more slippery.

The Bad

Instant Impact, but Doesn’t Last

In terms of wearability, I think this balm can fall flat if your lips are frequently prone to being dry and flaky. There were some instances where I noticed that my lips would feel flaky after a while of wearing the product. I would feel dry flakes around the border of my lips, which would accumulate product and make my lips look unflattering. If you touch up with the product while your lips have flaky skin, the balm will apply unevenly.

Too Much Like an Oil

Since the product is marketed as a lip balm, I personally think that the consistency of the product is too buttery if you’re considering this product for touching up your lipstick and lip liner. The transformation of building up the product from first glance is very nice. However, building up the products means a heavier layer of ingredients that easily melt upon contact with your skin. This means you can go from looking like you’re perfectly glossed to appearing like you might have some sauce around your lips.

Referring back to my previous point, the lip balm can end up accumulating to the border of your lips over time. This means more emphasis on your lipline than on the fullness of your lips. To mitigate this issue, you would have to check on your lips and maybe wipe off product to make it look even again.

Some people on Sephora also complained about the product melting easily in the packaging. So, if you plan to keep this in your bag for on-the-go use, make sure that the cap is sealed and that your bag is kept in a shaded place.

An Interesting Other Scent

Now, I saw some people on Sephora complain about the smell and I didn’t understand because I was loving the product. However, I didn’t experience the issue until I was super close to emptying the balm.

I wanted to use my lip balm to the very last drop (I’m always about making the most out of my makeup). I transferred the remaining bit of the Jouer lip balm to a twist-lid container. I thought all was good until a few days later.

The rose scent was one of my favorite parts of the product. That lovely scent was replaced by an unpleasant odor that had some sharp, sour notes. I seriously thought that my product was expired, but the quality stayed the same so I kept it around for a small period of time.

Catching that whiff of the new smell was so unpleasant, I ended up throwing the remaining bit of product so that it didn’t affect my skin or my health.

Would I Repurchase?

I seriously wanted to love this product, but I don’t think this product is something I would repurchase. It initially reached my expectations for a lip balm because it looked and felt great on my skin. However, having this product long-term and finishing it made me understand why people didn’t enjoy it.

If you use your lip balms lightly or usually don’t wear lipstick, I think you’d enjoy this one. I personally don’t think this formula works for my dry lips or my nose. It was disappointing for the scent to change and smell like it was expired, but I’m not sure if the latter was due to oxidization in my travel container or because the product scent expired. I guess we will never know.
