What is your favorite flower? I love sunflowers, but I also like pink roses since they’re my grandma’s favorite. What makes roses a popular flower of choice is not that it’s the flower of love, but it also has amazing anti-aging properties.💐

Recently, Korean skincare brand Heimish contacted me to try out their products in exchange for my honest review. I was so excited to see their rose skincare line from @heimish_uk because I never used the ingredient before. So, you know it was an obvious choice to finally try it for myself.

I used their Bulgarian Rose Satin Cream for 2-3 weeks in my day and nighttime skincare routine before coming up with the following opinions.

Why use Damask Rose Water?

Damask roses originate from the Middle East and have been well-loved for centuries for their beauty, fragrant aroma, and their skincare benefits. These flower species are often used for luxury perfumes when it calls for rose water because of their beautiful scent. Water has been known for being antibacterial (healing/preventing breakouts), its anti-inflammatory powers (soothing redness), and for toning (exfoliant).

Damask rose also contains antioxidants, vitamin C, and collagen, making it great for fighting off skin damage and maintaining youthful skin. Being out in the sun can speed up your skin’s aging process, so consider smelling the roses in your skincare, too.

What is Their Bulgarian Rose Satin Cream Supposed to Do?

Heimish’s Bulgarian Rose Satin Cream retails at $36 USD for 55 mL on their website. This cream acts as a perfect moisturizer for night and day and is meant to leave a satin-like finish. The combination of rose, flower AHA’s, and lactobionic acid make this moisturizer a must have if you love being low maintenance to stay looking high maintenance.

Not only can you use the satin cream as a moisturizer, you can also use it as a skin-protecting makeup primer to start your day on a high note. The cream is supposed to minimize the appearance and texture of wrinkles and hyperpigmentation so that you have a smooth surface. If you have dry and flaky skin, this product can be a great way to lightly exfoliate and let your true beauty bloom.

Here are some other skin-loving ingredients that make this product a possible solution for your skin:

• Flower AHA: Alpha hydroxy acids include malic acid, tartaric acid, ascorbic acid, lactobionic acid (all of which are listed as ingredients in this product), and many other types of acids that help exfoliate dead skin cells and promote cell turnover to reveal smoother, younger skin.
  
• Propanediol: Helps your skin better absorb product so that it can be moisturized and nourished to maintain a youthful glow.
• Fatty Acids: Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Myristic Acid are in this product formulation to act as emollients that boost your skin’s hydration so that it stays healthy for longer.
• Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891): Used to enhance the effects of anti-aging ingredients in your cosmetics and provides UV protection to delay your skin’s aging process from enviornmental stressors.
• Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract: Contains antioxidants that can help fight UV damage that can dehydrate your skin and speed up the aging process.
• Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil: Provides antioxidants and antimicrobial properties so that your breakouts aren’t infected and can go through a smooth healing process.
• Flower Extracts: Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender), Viola Tricolor, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower, and Crataegus Monogyna Flower Extracts work together to soothe your skin and improve skin circulation to reveal a healthier, more radiant complexion.

Satin Smooth Skin

Satin Skin is Very Much a Thing

This not only makes my skin look bouncy and firm, but it also makes it prepped for wearing makeup. My skin looked so plump because the cream contains some mica (the source for all your glittery shine in your cosmetics). I would also consider this product as a tone-up cream because it lightly brightens my complexion, but it’s a slight hint that doesn’t seem unnatural.

Long-lasting Hold for Makeup

I tested this typically with my morning routine where I use my natural makeup essentials. The cream contains silica which is a common ingredient for primers, so I already knew the formula would smooth my skin texture. My makeup lasted well with this cream as a base and it lasted throughout the day. This works extraordinarily well with Heimish’s BB Creams that I had the chance to test out, as well.

Creamy, but Not Overbearing

This moisturizer reminded me so much of a L’Occitane rose hand cream that I had when I was younger. It had a pleasant smell of roses but had a creamy, thick consistency that could easily disperse into a light barrier to seal in your skin’s moisture. Now that I think of it, this cream reminds me of the L’Occitane cream because Heimish’s moisturizer contains shea butter.

Because of these comparisons to the hand cream I had used in the past, I can justify the price point. You don’t need a lot of product for your face. You can use a cherry-size amount of product to cover your face and neck without having white cast or breakouts.

Skin Improvement

My blemishes slightly lightened while using this product. Of course, my blemishes looked less visible while wearing the cream because of the use of mica and thickening ingredients that made my skin look radiant and smooth. After taking it off, the blemishes still looked slightly lightened due to the many antibacterial and gentle exfoliation ingredients. No breakouts occurred and my skin never looked irritated.

Cons

Scented Ingredients

This isn’t a con for me, but just a detail to know. This moisturizer by Heimish contains some scent due to the extracts in it like lavender extract and orange peel extract. Some sensitive skin types might not like this product if they use too much product because it could make them break out. To prevent this negative experience, I would say to go heavy with toners and serums beforehand and then apply this moisturizer while your skin is damp.

Some Patchiness Could Occur

Depending on your makeup or skincare regimen, Heimish’s satin cream can be iffy for you. I noticed that my foundation would not blend well with this cream as a primer. However, this product would be fine when using BB creams. I think using this product underneath makeup can be trial and error, but BB creams or skin tint serums could be perfect. High-coverage foundations probably aren’t compatible with this moisturizer. If you try to layer your foundation to build up coverage with this cream, patchiness could also be an issue, too.

Would I repurchase?

Yes to both! I really enjoyed the satin cream since I’ve never heard of a product like this. This can also be a “tone-up cream” since it can blend into different skin shades and leaves a nice, smoothing foundation for makeup. If you use light to medium-coverage face makeup products, using this cream will be a breeze for you.
